September Foodie Penpals Reveal

Another great foodie penpals month. And guess what? This the 1 year anniversary of Lindsay starting the program (happy bday FPP), I joined in on the fun back in January. This month I was sent my treats from Kelly who apparently doesn’t have a blog listed in her email or the FPP listing and I should have asked if she wanted a guest spot, sorry Kelly. She was very good about asking questions and sending me treats to match my complicated dietary preferences and requirements. So good in fact, my Mom wanted to steal most of my treats when I hauled them over to her place to take photos and type while doing some laundry. Being the nice daughter I am, I gave her some treats along with additional FitBloggin goodies. This may or may not have to do with all the free babysitting I get for my fur-baby.

What was in my package? Well, let’s look at the pictures.

The “written” aspect was very cool. A magazine from the area, along with a hand written note.

The meringue cookies were a cool surprise, simple and delicious vanilla, simply sugar with more sugar haha. Yum. The marshmallows were also very awesome looking and sounding. Mom wanted them, but I kept them for my own enjoyment this winter. I’m thinking of all types of winter drinks to create and top off with some brown and green treats!

Dried fruit is always a special treat, and I found myself in possession of persimmons (I missed the company before giving the bag away) and apples/strawberries from FruitziO. I’ll be honest though, both were flavors I’m not too fond of, so Mom was more than willing to help keep them from going to waste. She’ll have some healthy treats at her desk now at work.

A final treat was the Rocky Mountain Popcorn. Fun and fluffy and ready to join in on movie night, which I have plenty of those nights with Ian especially while he is working on his 31 Days of Halloween podcast. Mom broke into the bag for herself last night and mentioned they were a tad too sweet for popcorn.

Thank you again for the package, I can tell you took time to find a variety of what I liked and new things to try. After all, some of my new favorite treats have been from FPP packages.

What did everyone else get in their packages?

August Foodie Penpals Reveal

Well what do you know?  Another month has come and gone. Meaning another installment of treats and wonders via the Foodie Penpals Program. For August it I received the following amazing box of goodies from Marcia of Travel, Run, Eat. I knew with that title I was not going to be disappointed. Marcia was amazingly sweet and paid very close attention to all my various food allergies, intolerances and preferences. In exchange I have a great box of new food to explore! No wonder people love this exchange.

The packaging reminded me of Christmas, which is just around the corner, believe it or not! Yikes. It also made me laugh because it’s re-purposed from a giveaway of protein bars, which I know since I was sent the same bars and the package was still sitting on my table. Way to be green Marcia! Nicely done!

I was a little nervous about the two waters, normally they have sugar substitute, but these really were simply water and flavoring! Very cool and such a nice treat while working a long day, but not wanting to grab a soda. The tea is a flavor I actually have bought myself, so it was nice to get a refill and the cookies were VERY exciting. Not just because they’re Disney and unique to the area she sent them from, but because they were prepackaged cookies I could actually eat!! Woo-hoo!

Under those items we had even more! The crispy apples, which are again simply dried apples. I think Heidi and I ate something similar on our road trip to Dirty Girl. A few snack bars of various flavoring and a close up of the tea I mentioned earlier.

I love various drinks and sweet treats so these were quite the pleasant surprise. Thanks again Marcia you were a trooper and a great penpal!

July Foodie Penpals Reveal

Well howdy partners! July has come and gone and you may know what that means, if you’ve been around the block a time or two in these here parts.

It’s time for Foodie Penpals Reveal day!

This month I was partnered with the wonderful Natalie, who sent me quite the care package. She doesn’t have a blog so unfortunately I can’t pay it forward in bloggy link love. On the other side of things, I sent a package over to Jenna at Momma Told Me, make sure you pop over to read her recap.

Seriously, look at all the stuff I was sent! When I opened the box I felt like I kept pulling out another bag or box and the fun would never end. Let’s break it down and examine my spoils.

In the fruit department we have dried apricots, chew apricot bars and Buddy Fruits of apple cinnamon and apple banana. The NATUREBOX dried fruit will be a perfect asset to my desk at work, for times I need a quick snack between clients. I’ve had the leather fruit bar type treats before and always find they are a great stash away in your purse when going walking or to an event sans food and you don’t want to bring much along. The Buddy Fruit is something I’ve never heard of before or tried. They seem awesome though, simply fruit, fruit juice, nothing artificial or creepy. I plan to use them for breakfast in a pinch or perhaps as a post workout snack?

I was also sent a collection of drinks. The dry lavender soda makes me a little nervous. 1) I’m not really a pop drinker so not sure how it’ll go over and 2) Not sure how lavender pop will taste? For some reason I get lavender and lilac mixed up and I don’t like the smell of lilacs, and I can’t stop thinking about it when I look at this soda. Haha. The two kinds of tea seem awesome though! Hello chocolate mint tea? Yes please!

Last, but not least we have the straight up treats collection. Ginger chews are a godsend when you’re out on a long run and begin to have stomach issues. Or for me, when I’m flying or in the car a long time because I am blessed with car sickness. *F*U*N* right here. Glad to have a few more in my arsenal. The GLEE gum made me smile, I love old fashioned design products and the flavors sound good too. Bubble gum, triple berry and tangerine? Yum. Makes me glad I am no longer in braces and can find a way to use them! The meringue drops are a new idea of me. They’re chocolate so that’s a plus, but I worry they’ll be too sweet. Mom made a lemon meringue pie once and I hated it…but that was way back in the day, perhaps my taste buds have changed? When I opened the dark chocolate chew my heart sunk because at first glance the picture made me think of coconut! Eiiip! Luckily my penpal paid attention and knew not to send me something I listed as an allergy. My coworker would chew/eat pure cocoa or whatever all the time and I wonder if I could enjoy the same thing? Tell me peeps is it like a candy bar but healthier?
