20 miles – it happened!

Well I know everyone is dying to see this….I did 20 miles, I didn’t run but I did them. I knew I would struggle but I was sad I walked as soon as I did. yesterday’s 5K, followed by 2 hours of spinning and about 1.5 hours of dancing at a concert did not lead well into 20 miles, but hey I did them. I am not ashamed to walk, I did it because I felt tight. Not in pain and not hopeless but I knew if I pushed too hard I WAS going to hurt myself and the end is in sight people the end is in sight. So I walked….like 12 miles of it. I walked around mile 8 and I walked until mile 19 then ran to mile 20. I didn’t feel sick or dizzy ever so that’s good and I didn’t hurt or whatever so that’s also good. I know though to be careful of what I do the day before a big race and I know I need to make sure I go out during the week so it’s not such a shock to my system come the weekend. So yippie for me. No comments about the “slow” I’m not upset and neither should anyone else (be)…I’m happy I’m proud and I’m learning how to pull it together these next few weeks. Besides I ALWAYS do better on race day and with people. For example it KILLS me to do a 10 minute mile on my own, it mills to sometimes do an 11 minute mile on my own and yet on race day I’ve been pulling 9’s without pain, I’ve been hearing 8-something in mile one…so clearly I just do better when I know it’s time to step it up. Hope everyone else accomplished their goals and is happy,

  1. I'm really proud of you because you know your limits and you don't try to push yourself to an unrealistic extreme. Imagine how many people seriously injure themselves in the long run trying to do that…
