So I was supposed to do 15 miles in my training this weekend. And I was honestly looking forward to it. After a week of not doing anything I missed my running! Sat I slept in, it was heavenly, then I went with my Mom and Grandma to a picnic at the nursing home where my Great Aunt lives, I haven’t seen her in a while and I thought it would be nice to go. Plus it was raining and what else would I do? Sit and watch TV? Tsk tsk. The rain didn’t let up and I didn’t want to run in the rain, even though there is a good chance my marathon WILL be in the rain…whatever it can happen then.
Sunday I did a 5K. Not very pretty. My legs HURT and my knees went in directions knees shouldn’t go. I finished in 34:02 (ouch) yet I was still 8/15 in my age group…apparently NO ONE likes heat and humidity? I hid in the house the rest of the day and read and cleaned. Fail on the 15 miles. Grrr.
Today I went to work and took myself to the gym. Heat and rain be damned I was not wasting one of the “safety” weeks. So onto the treadmill for 5.0 miles. Up to the indoor track for 2.5 miles. Down to the treadmill for 4.5 miles. Up to the track for a final 3.0 miles. Go me!!! 15 miles!! And still smiling. Oh and BTW this morning started umm “girl week” and well at the risk of TMI I wear outties not innies if you catch my drift so THAT was a comfortable run. All in all I wish I had gone out in the rain. But I did it and I’m here to talk about it and next week is 16 miles, with a 10 mile race Sunday so hoping to find a way to pull another 6 after that.
